Ridgeway Yard Flat
A HOME FROM HOME ON THE SOUTH COASTSEATON, DEVON
For over 40 years, Ridgeway Yard Flat has been a base for many memorable holidays for our family and friends. The kitchen is the centre-point of the flat with a large pine table, ideal for meals, coffee time chats, making plans for the day, playing games of cards or, on those rare occasions that it rains in Seaton…. for wet weather board games! Hours have also been spent sitting in the large south facing kitchen window watching the world go by.
RIDGEWAY YARD
In addition to the large kitchen there is a small sitting room with an open fire and slate hearth- perfect for Winter book reading. The bedrooms consist of a twin bedroom and a double bunk room which sleeps 4. There is also a family shower room, space for 2 cars to park and WiFi.
SEATON & THE LOCAL AREA
Seaton is a coastal town in the south east corner of Devon. It has a large shingle beach and a beautiful protected harbour, home to Axe Yacht Club. The town has a Heritage Museum, a Jurassic Museum, 2 supermarkets, fish and chip shops, curry houses, Italian restaurant, an 18 hole golf course, tennis courts, crazy golf, lawn bowls, beachside coffee shops, ice cream parlours, a tramline, a nature reserve (and until the Autumn of 2022, ‘Akermans’ the Ironmongers)! You cannot fail to catch crabs galore if you throw down a line from the east side of the river Axe as you walk down to the river mouth, whilst a mile further east along the beach, you will reach Culverhole Point and its stunning prawning pools, best visited at the lowest of spring tides.
18 HOLES OF PURE BEAUTY
Axe Cliff Golf Club is a Par 70, 18 hole golf course at just under 6,000 yards. The first 9 holes have stunning views up the Axe Valley whilst the back 9 takes you along the cliff edge and spectacular views over Lyme Bay
Local Walks
From Seaton, there are lovely walks up the Axe Valley or along the South West Coast Path. Travel east to Lyme Regis (7 miles along the famous ‘Landslip’) or west to Beer (1.5 miles) and on to Branscombe (a further 3 miles) where you can treat yourself to something at the beach café, or walk half a mile inland to the fabulous Masons Arms for a pint and a more substantial meal.
The Area around....
To the East is Lyme Regis, home of the Cob made famous by The French Lieutenant’s Women and is also the centre of the Jurassic Coast, a mecca for fossil hunters. To the West, Beer is a traditional Devon village with an active fishing fleet, you can go on deep sea fishing trips or potter around in your own self-drive boat with a couple of mackerel lines out the back. If you return empty handed, you will be able to pick up a variety of fish or shellfish from the wet fish market by the beach. For those keen to stay on dry land, a guided tour around the Beer Caves is well worth a visit; year round, the temperature is a constant ‘cool’ and water dripping from the roof has been quoted as being rain water from between 100 and 1000 years ago!
